Description

You will support the Local Government GIS Collection effort by preparing city and county street data for the GDOT statewide road network.

Responsibilities

• Edit road centerlines and associated road characteristics within GIS databases.
• Coordinate with local governmental entities to obtain data and verify road ownership.
• Query databases and validate data accuracy for inclusion in the road network.
• Prepare and deliver reports to supervisors regarding project progress.
• Use geospatial data to create and produce GIS maps and data.

Required Skills

• Proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS 10.x Desktop software suite.
• Experience using ArcGIS editing tools.
• Familiarity with shapefiles and personal/file geodatabases.
• Knowledge of geodatabase topology and editing in an SDE multi-user database.
• Ability to query databases and perform data validation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with government agencies.
• Completion or near completion of a four-year college degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Direct experience creating and editing GIS data.
• Previous GIS work experience with a city or county government agency.
