Description

Architect and lead the migration of Java applications to AWS, covering both Lift & Shift and modernization efforts.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS services like Lambda, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, S3, RDS, and DynamoDB.
• Decompose legacy monolithic applications into microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Create high-level architecture, integration patterns, and modernization strategy documents.
• Guide engineering teams on Java best practices, Spring ecosystem usage, distributed systems, and performance tuning.
• Enable DevOps automation by implementing CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and observability tooling (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).

Required Skills

• 12+ years of experience in Java (versions 11/17/21) with strong OOP and multithreading knowledge.
• Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Proven experience with REST APIs and event-driven microservices architecture.
• Hands-on proficiency with AWS services: Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, S3, Glue, RDS PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
• Experience migrating applications between AWS accounts or Landing Zones.
• Strong command of SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Redis).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Testing experience using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
