Description

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document technical work products (code, scripts, processes) according to organizational standards and practices
• Solve technical problems and build components and libraries with far-ranging impact
• Deliver high-quality work and coach more junior engineers on technical craftsmanship
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify systemic problems and define and lead execution of action items to address them
• Design thoughtfully integrated systems that model organizational best practices, allowing disparate teams across product domains to deliver value with speed, scale, and reliability
• Oversee the management of technical debt in existing systems and drive opportunities to eliminate it within ongoing implementations
• Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges and guide teams in implementation of mitigating strategies
• Partner with the security organization to incorporate security-conscious practices early in the lifecycle of new systems
• Thoughtfully evaluate technical risks and guide toward practical prevention strategies
• Reflect on squad delivery practices and recommend improvements to leadership
• Identify and remove duplication of effort across teams and proactively identify opportunities for reuse

Qualifications

• Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience and training
  • 7 or more years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments
  • Proficiency with Java
  • Proficiency with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
  • Proficiency with React
  • Ability to optimize solutions for performance, resiliency, and reliability while maintaining an eye toward simplicity
  • Ability to concisely convey ideas verbally, in writing, in code, and in diagrams
  • Ability to optimize system designs spanning multiple teams to allow small, safe, incremental releases
  • Ability to work through others by cooperatively sharing responsibilities
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design techniques and principles
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM
  • Proficiency in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Proficiency with Javascript and TypeScript
  • Proficiency with Docker
  • Proficiency with GitHub
  • Proficiency with REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL and Oracle
  • Proficiency with test automation tools including Selenium, TestNG, Postman, SonarQube, Cypress, JUnit, NUnit, PyTest, Cucumber, Playwright, Wiremock, Mockito, and Moq
• Preferred
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience and training
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with GitHub Actions
  • Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, IBM Cloud, and AWS
  • Proficiency with ExtJS
  • Experience in the airline industry
