Engineer solutions bridging legacy mainframe systems with modern cloud-native services.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Extract and map business processes from legacy systems to target Java services and APIs.
• Execute automated code transformation from COBOL to Java/Spring Boot and resolve behavioral parity gaps.
• Build and enhance RESTful microservices using Java/Spring Boot, applying 12-factor principles and Strangler pattern.
• Deploy services using Docker to Amazon ECS/EKS, integrating with core AWS services.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, implementing quality gates and supporting functional equivalence validation.

Required Skills

• 9+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 11+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with JPA/Hibernate and microservices design patterns.
• Practical understanding of mainframe concepts: COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2.
• Experience utilizing AWS services for application deployment (ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS).
• Proficiency with Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Solid skills in writing unit, integration, and contract tests.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with functional equivalence validation tools.
