Description

You will own the architecture and development of enterprise Java applications for the eLIMS-Forensics programme.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Define software architecture and design patterns for scalable, maintainable enterprise applications.
• Develop and optimise backend services, data models, and client-server components using modern Java technologies.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and manage containerised environments with Docker.
• Provide technical guidance to distributed development teams across UK, Europe, and offshore locations.
• Ensure high code quality through testing, performance profiling, and JVM tuning.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of extensive experience in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices.
• Deep proficiency in Java, Java EE, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Hands-on experience with Eclipse RCP, SWT, and JFace.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, WildFly, and Maven.
• Proven ability to apply SOLID principles and Clean Code methodologies.
• Experience modernising legacy systems in regulated environments like Forensics or LIMS.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within Agile and Scrum delivery teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Jakarta EE, JPQL, and CriteriaBuilder.
• Familiarity with Git workflows, Eclipse Tycho, and modular application design.
