Description

You will own the networking architecture and automation for K3s hybrid clusters, ensuring reliable service exposure and secure multi-tenant isolation.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement networking for hybrid clusters, supporting multi-interface and VLAN-backed scenarios.
• Configure and optimize CNI plugins, specifically Multus, Cilium, and Calico.
• Develop custom Kubernetes controllers and operators in Go to manage networking resources declaratively.
• Deploy and manage bare-metal load balancers (MetalLB, BGP) for external service exposure.
• Integrate cluster networking with upstream DNS, IPAM, and underlay/overlay networks.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes/K3s networking and CNI architecture.
• Hands-on expertise with Multus CNI for multi-network attachment definitions.
• Strong proficiency in Cilium or Calico for advanced networking, security policies, and observability.
• Experience developing Kubernetes operators/controllers using Go (controller-runtime, Kubebuilder, or Operator SDK).
• Deep knowledge of Linux networking (netlink, iproute2, eBPF tools) and debugging.
• Experience with bare-metal load balancers (MetalLB, BGP) and IPAM/DHCP integration.
• Proficiency in VLAN configuration and bridging external networks into Kubernetes workloads.
• Strong understanding of network policies, encryption, and RBAC for multi-network isolation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) in multi-network setups.
• Knowledge of SR-IOV, DPDK, or high-performance networking approaches.
