Description

You will own the Kafka infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for event-driven systems.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Kafka clusters, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Automate operational workflows and pipeline orchestration using expert-level Bash shell scripting in UNIX/Linux environments.
• Build and maintain scalable REST APIs and microservices using Python or Java.
• Implement security measures for Kafka clusters, including TLS/SSL encryption and SASL authentication.
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines using Git, GitLab, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

Required Skills

• Expert-level proficiency in Apache Kafka and event-driven messaging systems.
• Strong experience with Python or Java object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux environments and advanced Bash scripting.
• Experience building scalable REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD automation.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, or Grafana.
• Experience with relational databases and complex SQL queries.
• 10+ years of professional experience in infrastructure or backend engineering.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI productivity tools (Claude, Cursor) and foundation models.
• Background in Databricks, Snowflake, or cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience contributing to system architecture or platform-level design decisions.
