Description

You will administer enterprise Apache Kafka clusters, ensuring high availability, security, and performance in production environments.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Kafka clusters using ZooKeeper or KRaft architectures.
• Automate operational tasks, deployments, and patching using Ansible and Python scripts.
• Monitor cluster health and troubleshoot production issues using Prometheus, Grafana, and JMX metrics.
• Implement and enforce Kafka security protocols including SSL/TLS, SASL, Kerberos, and ACLs.
• Support production deployments, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in Linux administration and backend infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform administration.
• Proficiency in Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and cluster migration (ZooKeeper to KRaft).
• Strong scripting skills in Python for automation and tooling.
• Experience with Ansible for infrastructure as code and configuration management.
• Knowledge of Kafka security models (SSL/TLS, SASL, Kerberos, ACLs).
• Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and JMX for monitoring and performance tuning.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift for containerized deployments.
