Description

You will manage single and multi-node Kafka clusters deployed across VM, Docker, and Kubernetes platforms.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Build and design Kafka clusters, including infrastructure planning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Implement security protocols including SSL wire encryption, SASL/LDAP authentication, and Kafka ACLs.
• Manage cluster upgrades across development, test, staging, and production/DR environments.
• Configure MirrorMaker 2 and Confluent Replicator for topic replication.
• Set up and maintain monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana to track broker, ZooKeeper, and Schema Registry health.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Kafka administration and cluster management.
• Hands-on experience with Confluent Platform running on-premises.
• Proficiency with SASL/LDAP, Oracle, MSSQL, SAP HANA, DB2, Aerospike, and Postgres.
• Experience managing clusters on RedHat OCP, VMWare Tanzu, VM, and Docker.
• Knowledge of Kafka Producer/Consumer APIs and Kafka Stream processing.
• Ability to configure Kafka Connect, including Debezium and JDBC connectors.
• Experience with Confluent Schema Registry and ksqlDB.
• Availability to work in shifts, extended hours, and provide on-call support including weekends.

Preferred Skills

• Linux system administration (SLES or RHEL) and shell scripting.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, or Ansible for Kafka deployment.
• Cloud experience in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
