Description

You will manage advanced database operations, focusing on performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Optimize database performance using query analysis tools, indexing strategies, and configuration parameter tuning.
• Manage replication configurations and implement high-availability solutions using tools like Patroni or pg_auto_failover.
• Design and execute backup strategies and disaster recovery plans, including Point-In-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Execute major version upgrades and cross-platform migrations with minimal downtime.
• Automate routine database tasks and infrastructure deployment using scripting and IaC tools.
• Lead incident response and perform deep-dive root cause analysis for complex production issues.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in database administration.
• Advanced PostgreSQL expertise including pg_stat_statements, pgBackRest, and pg_upgrade.
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
• Expertise in SQL and PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures and trigger functions.
• Proficiency in scripting with Bash and Python.
• Experience with automation and monitoring tools: Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Knowledge of security hardening, including TLS, RBAC, and pgAudit.
• Experience managing connection pooling with PgBouncer.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cross-platform migrations from Oracle using Ora2Pg.
• Experience managing partitioning and advanced indexing like BRIN, GIN, and GiST.
