Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer / SQL Developer to lead our Data Engineering team in India as part of the global Data & AI organization at ebm papst.
In this role, you combine strong hands-on technical expertise (with a clear focus on SQL) with people leadership and delivery ownership. You act as the first point of contact for the local Data Engineering team, providing technical guidance, direction, and answers to technical questions.
You are accountable for both the team's deliverables and the way they are delivered. This includes making sure outputs meet high-quality standards, following development guidelines and protocols, planning team capacity efficiently, and consistently delivering on schedule. You will work in close partnership with your German
counterpart and collaborate tightly with the global Data & AI team to ensure the local team is a well-integrated, efficient, and high-performing part of the overall organization.
Technical & Delivery Ownership Take overall responsibility for the technical output and delivery quality of the Data Engineering team in India
•
Act as the primary technical and content-related escalation point for the team
•
Ensure that SQL-based transformations and ELT pipelines meet agreed data contracts, quality standards, and performance requirements
•
Review and validate team output to ensure it fully meets the functional and technical requirements defined by data owners
•
Ensure adherence to development guidelines, coding standards, and data engineering best practices
Coordination & Collaboration
•
Coordinate capacity planning, task allocation work load

Work closely with global Data & AI teams at ebm‑papst, data product managers, and data owners
•
Translate requirements and priorities into clear technical direction for the team
•
Align on standards, roadmaps, and best practices across locations.
Team Leadership & Coordination
•
Lead, mentor, and develop a Data Engineering team with a strong SQL focus
•
Actively support team members with technical guidance, reviews, and problem solving
•
Mentor team members and actively develop technical skills, efficiency, and delivery maturity
•
Build an environment of accountability,transpirancy and continous improvement
