Role Overview:
The Onsite Database Manager is responsible for overseeing database operations, ensuring service stability, managing Business relationships, and driving performance, cost optimization, and continuous improvement across database platforms. The role also requires strong domain expertise in Oracle Cloud (OCI) , AWS Cloud (RDS) , ETRM systems and enterprise storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Service Delivery & Operations • Ensure 24x7 database availability, stability, and performance, High Availability • Oversee daily operations across Oracle Cloud, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MS SQL, Redshift etc.. • Manage incident, problem, and change management processes • Ensure adherence to SLAs and KPIs
- Business & Stakeholder Management • Act as primary point of contact for Business stakeholders • Lead service review meetings, RCA discussions, escalations • Provide proactive status updates
- Leadership • Manage onsite and offshore DBA/AppSupport teams • Conduct syncs and performance reviews • Ensure shift coverage and mentoring
- Incident & RCA Management • Handle Severity 1 incidents • Ensure RCA quality and preventive actions
- Database Performance & Optimization • Monitor query performance and resource utilization • Implement tuning strategies
- Cost Optimization (OCI , AWS Cloud ) • Optimize Database and cloud costs • Provide cost reporting
- Monitoring & Automation • Use Datadog and Nimsoft • Drive automation and alert optimization 8. Project & Change Management • Lead upgrades and migrations
- Compliance & Security • Ensure security and audit compliance.
Cloud & Platform Expertise
Strong experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including: - Compute, Storage, Networking - Autonomous Database and DB Systems - Backup, DR, and High Availability (Data Guard) - Performance monitoring and cost optimization • Experience with AWS cloud services (RDS, EC2, S3)
