Description

Lead the design and development of a custom Linux distribution for satellite and telecommunications applications.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Own the development of a custom Linux distribution, creating and maintaining layers and recipes.
• Develop Board Support Packages (BSPs) for existing and new hardware across ARM and x86 architectures.
• Design and implement mechanisms to support over-the-air (OTA) updates on production satellites.
• Act as the primary Linux expert for the engineering team, covering kernel, CPU architecture, and device drivers.
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements definition through to test and verification.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience building and shipping embedded Linux distributions.
• Expert knowledge of C/C++, Git, and Yocto/OpenEmbedded.
• Deep expertise in embedded Linux configuration, bootloaders, kernel, and drivers.
• Proven ability in root cause analysis and advanced kernel-level troubleshooting.
• Experience with hardware protocols including RS-232, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop integration and testing.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with PREEMPT_RT and developing software for SmallSats or CubeSats.
• Proficiency using CI/CD, Docker, and creating container images from Yocto artifacts.
