Description

Lead the development and support of FPGA/CPLD designs for high-reliability embedded aerospace and ground-based vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the full FPGA design lifecycle, including requirements generation, RTL synthesis, test bench development, and design simulation.
• Execute static timing and power analysis alongside requirements-based design verification.
• Direct complex system analysis, design reviews, and prototype evaluations.
• Mentor engineering leadership and promote systems engineering education across the department.
• Manage design-to-cost tradeoffs, qualification test support, and system integration.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of engineering experience in HDL-based FPGA and CPLD design for aerospace applications.
• Expertise in digital electronic devices and circuit design principles.
• Proficiency with Synopsys tools: Design Compiler, IC Compiler II, PrimeTime, and PrimePower.
• Hands-on experience with hardware build, test, and integration.
• Experience using Matlab and Simulink for FPGA code auto-generation.
• Familiarity with RTCA/DO-254 hardware development objectives.
• Ability to integrate FPGAs into digital circuit card designs to ensure electrical integrity.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with VHDL, System Verilog, and OVM/UVM test benches.
• Knowledge of Microprocessor/Microcontroller interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN bus) and serial interfaces (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429).
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Perl, or TCL scripting.
