7–8 years total experience – C#/.NET Core (versions 8–10)
True full stack – front end and back end equally strong; candidates who are all BE or all FE are a no
Microservices, SQL Server, business analyst partnership
Cloud-native experience required – no cloud-native experience is a hard no (Azure preferred; still confirming if Azure specifically is required)
Containers as primary deployment model
React preferred; significant legacy Angular in the environment – strong Angular devs are acceptable, HM believes they’ll transition to React (Flutter nice-to-have)
Hands-on experience using AI coding tools – they run Claude Code and OpenCode today; Copilot also counts; goal is using AI tools, not building AI apps
Must be smarter than the tool – knows when the AI got it wrong and course-corrects; produces with it and analyzes/fixes the output. HM tests this by going project by project: what tools were used, how the candidate judged the limits of the AI output, and what the app’s features are
Technical leadership in design, architecture, implementation, and deployment across both on-prem and cloud-native environments
Adaptability
Scope:
Hands-on coding (about 75% of the time) – full-stack work in .NET/C# on the back end and TypeScript/React/Angular on the front end
Using AI coding tools (Claude Code, OpenCode, Copilot) to build, then reviewing and fixing what the AI produces
Architecture and design (about 25%) – shaping how apps get migrated to the cloud and how new builds are put together
Moving legacy apps from on-prem to cloud, and rebuilding parts of them as cloud-native
Guiding other developers, both FTEs and onshore/offshore contractors, on technical direction and best practices
Working with BAs to turn requirements into solutions
Running 2-week sprints in Agile
Presenting solutions at the weekly review with Bryan
Supporting and improving the ~10 apps they own, including integrations with Anthology, Canvas, Core LMS and Salesforce
