Description

Lead backend development using Python, FastAPI, and Azure PaaS services to build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend systems using Python, FastAPI, and SQLAlchemy across PostgreSQL, CosmosDB, and Redis.
• Build and manage scalable cloud solutions on Azure PaaS, including App Services, Function Apps, and API Management.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices architecture, utilizing Swagger and Postman for documentation and testing.
• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) with PyTest and manage distributed task processing using Celery.
• Coach junior engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and maintain high code quality through reviews.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience with Python, specifically strong proficiency in FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
• Hands-on experience with Azure PaaS services: App Services, Function Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Storage, Key Vaults, and Azure SQL.
• Expertise in database management using SQL and NoSQL, including PostgreSQL, CosmosDB, and Redis.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices, with knowledge of Swagger and Postman.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development and automated testing using PyTest.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and containerisation (Docker).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cross-functional collaboration and mentoring junior engineers.
• Ability to foster continuous improvement and take ownership of technical decisions.
