Description

You will own the design, optimization, and scaling of high-throughput Ruby and Rails systems.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale Rails applications to handle 10K+ RPS and millions of daily transactions.
• Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka (Karafka) with exactly-once semantics, CQRS, and Saga patterns.
• Optimize Ruby MRI internals, including garbage collection, memory models, and YARV bytecode.
• Tune concurrent execution using Puma, Sidekiq, and async frameworks (Falcon/Async), addressing deadlocks and contention.
• Ensure system reliability through rigorous observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and secure API design.

Required Skills

• 12+ years of strong experience with Ruby and Rails internals (ActiveRecord, Arel, middleware).
• Deep knowledge of Ruby MRI internals: GIL, memory model, object allocation, and generational GC.
• Experience scaling distributed systems with PostgreSQL (sharding, indexing, query tuning) and Redis.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, RDS, SQS, Lambda), Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Jenkins) and background processing (Sidekiq/Resque).
• Understanding of eventual consistency, distributed transactions, and idempotent API design.
• Experience with observability stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/OpenSearch.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in high-frequency trading, payment processing, or crypto exchange environments.
• Familiarity with JRuby/TruffleRuby, GraphQL, or gRPC services.
