Description

Design and own Azure-based data platform architecture, integrating lab informatics systems (LIMS/SDMS) with enterprise data lakes.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Architect Azure data platforms using ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.
• Define integration patterns for LIMS and SDMS systems, handling structured and unstructured instrument data.
• Implement data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Spark and Delta Lake to ensure data quality and traceability.
• Establish governance standards using Microsoft Purview for cataloging, lineage, and compliance with GxP/FDA regulations.
• Enable analytics and reporting via Power BI and Azure ML, supporting predictive insights and regulatory submissions.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Azure Data Architecture.
• Hands-on expertise with LIMS platforms (LabWare, STARLIMS, Thermo Fisher) and SDMS solutions (BIOVIA, Waters NuGenesis).
• Strong proficiency in Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake for large-scale data processing.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Event Hub, and Service Bus for event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools, specifically Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Ability to handle API, batch, and file-based integrations (XML, CSV, proprietary formats).
• Understanding of scientific data lifecycle, metadata extraction, and digital thread concepts.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Power BI semantic models and Azure Machine Learning pipelines.
• Familiarity with GxP, FDA regulations, and auditability requirements in laboratory environments.
