Description

You will provide linguistic expertise to support the development and evaluation of machine learning models.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics.
• Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams on data collection, curation, translation, localization, and annotation.
• Create annotation systems and guidelines.
• Evaluate and curate datasets for ML models while assessing model and data quality.
• Develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses.

Required Skills

• Native or near-native fluency in Mexican Spanish, including awareness of local cultural norms.
• Master’s degree in General Linguistics, Romance Languages, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience working with speech and text data in multiple languages.
• Proficiency in SQL and intermediate or above skills in Python.
• Experience with Java coding.
• Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications.
• Experience with database queries and data analysis using spreadsheets, R, or Unix.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and NLP libraries and tools.

Preferred Skills

• PhD in Linguistics, Romance Languages, Language Technologies, Computational Linguistics, or Speech Science.
