Description
You will manage and execute complex database migration strategies onto hardened Linux environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute migration paths for database landscapes, selecting between RMAN XTTS, Data Guard, or Data Pump.
- Configure and harden target Linux servers, managing kernel parameters, HugePages, and sysctl settings for database workloads.
- Automate Linux environment provisioning across Dev, UAT, and Production using IaC.
- Benchmark SQL execution plans and system throughput to resolve performance regressions post-migration.
- Manage storage transition from Solaris ZFS/UFS to Linux-native file systems or ASM.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of professional experience.
- Deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Proficiency in system administration: process management (systemd), storage (LVM, multipath), and SELinux.
- Strong Shell Scripting (Bash/Python) for automation and system checks.
- Expertise in Oracle Database (12c/19c) architecture.
- Experience with Endian conversion (Solaris SPARC Big-Endian to Linux Little-Endian).
- Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate for zero-downtime migrations.
- Understanding of Solaris features like Zones/LDOMs, ZFS, and DTrace.
