Description

Manage and maintain Linux operating systems within a virtualized environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade Linux OS using scripted and non-scripted methods.
• Execute server migrations including P2V, V2V, P2P, and on-prem to cloud activities.
• Manage server lifecycles, perform OS patching, and ensure security compliance.
• Monitor system performance, fine-tune configurations, and troubleshoot hardware and OS-level issues.
• Schedule and troubleshoot cron jobs and backups using CRON and BMC Control-M.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Linux administration.
• Expertise in RHEL (5.x, 6.x, 7.x) and CentOS (5.x, 6.x, 7.x).
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi (6.x, 7.x) and managing Linux over VMware platforms.
• Experience with server migrations using VMware Converter, Platespin, or Carbonite.
• Proficiency with patching management tools and YUM.
• Working knowledge of SAN and NAS provisioned storage.
• Experience with Client DL G4, 5, 6, 7, and Lenovo Servers.
• Knowledge of TCP/UDP traffic, security, and networking components.
• Experience using ITIL tools including SNOW, BMC, and HPSIM.

Preferred Skills

• Basic knowledge of AWS or public cloud environments.
• Scripting experience with Shell, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience in system integration and project implementation.
