Description

Manage the growth, maintenance, and development of a large-scale server farm running primarily on Linux and Unix.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2+ and L3 on-call support for complex systems, applications, and break-fix issues.
• Deploy, migrate, and upgrade systems to improve long-term performance and security.
• Design system architecture and topology in collaboration with senior staff.
• Automate workloads and routine administration tasks using Ruby, Perl, or shell scripting.
• Manage software distribution mechanisms to ensure customers receive current supported versions.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of progressive experience in engineering and design capacities.
• Deep understanding of UNIX/Linux fundamentals and extensive Red Hat administration.
• Proven experience managing VERITAS cluster servers (VCS).
• Experience running large-scale virtualized environments using VMware.
• Proficiency in scripting with Ruby, Perl, and shell languages.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BIND, LDAP, Sendmail, NTP, FCIP, iSCSI, SAN, and NAS.
• Strong troubleshooting skills within complex application and database environments.
• Solid understanding of network and server security.

Preferred Skills

• Experience creating custom dashboards for performance monitoring and metrics.
• Administration of servers and storage within OpenStack and Azure cloud environments.
• RHCE, vSphere ESXi, OpenStack, or Azure/AWS certifications.
