You manage VMware ESXi environments, executing vMotion, Storage vMotion, and cold migrations with minimal service disruption. You configure and troubleshoot iSCSI storage networks, handling multipathing, CHAP authentication, and connectivity between environments. You also manage LVM configurations, including volume group export/import, logical volume resizing, and filesystem integrity validation.

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end server migrations (P2V, V2V, site-to-site) for physical and virtual workloads.
  • Manage VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, including host builds, VM provisioning, DRS, and HA.
  • Configure and troubleshoot iSCSI storage networks, ensuring proper multipathing and performance.
  • Develop automation tooling and migration runbooks to streamline workflows and ensure reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to assess migration readiness and integrate modern stacks like Kubernetes and OpenStack.

Required Skills

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in Linux-based compute environments and OS internals.
  • 4+ years of experience in large-scale data center/server migration projects.
  • Strong expertise with VMware ESXi/vSphere, including vMotion, Storage vMotion, and host builds.
  • Expert-level understanding of LVM, including volume management, snapshots, and migration.
  • 4+ years of experience with containerization tools: Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker.
  • 4+ years of proficiency in scripting languages: Bash and Python.
  • 4+ years of understanding of CI/CD tools: Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and firewalls.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with additional scripting languages (Node.js, Perl, Go) and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

Education

Bachelor's degree
