Description

We are looking for a skilled LinuxONE Deployment Infrastructure Engineer responsible for designing, deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux infrastructure running on IBM LinuxONE platforms. The engineer will work with Linux systems, virtualization, automation, networking, storage, security, and enterprise deployment technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy and configure Linux operating systems on IBM LinuxONE environments.
• Perform LinuxONE infrastructure provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) or other supported Linux distributions.
• Work with IBM z/VM, KVM, LPARs, and virtualization technologies.
• Configure and troubleshoot Linux networking, DNS, routing, TCP/IP, VLANs and firewalls.
• Manage storage and connectivity, including FCP, SAN, DASD and enterprise storage where applicable.
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Ansible, Terraform, shell scripting or Python.
• Develop deployment scripts and automation for repeatable infrastructure builds.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot operating-system, application, network, storage and virtualization issues.
• Perform security hardening, vulnerability remediation and OS patch management.
• Support high-availability and disaster-recovery environments.
• Work with DevOps teams to integrate LinuxONE infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, configuration standards and operational procedures.
• Participate in incident, problem and change-management processes.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams and application teams during deployments and migrations.

Required Skills

Linux

• Strong Linux administration experience.
• RHEL/SLES administration.
• Linux installation, configuration, patching and troubleshooting.
• Systemd, LVM, filesystems, networking and performance tuning.
• Bash/Shell scripting.

IBM LinuxONE / IBM Z

• Hands-on experience with IBM LinuxONE or IBM Z environments.
• Understanding of LPARs and virtualization.
• Experience with z/VM or KVM is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of IBM Z/Linux architecture and deployment processes.

Automation & DevOps

• Ansible.
• Python and/or Shell scripting.
• Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Git.
• CI/CD concepts and tools.

Networking & Storage

• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and VLANs.
• Firewall and security concepts.
• SAN/Fibre Channel concepts.
• Enterprise storage technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• IBM LinuxONE certification or relevant IBM Z/Linux training.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator/Engineer (RHCSA/RHCE).
• SUSE certifications.
• Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift on LinuxONE.
• Experience with Docker/Podman.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk or similar.
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Understanding of ITIL processes.
