Description

Define and execute mainframe modernization strategies for legacy workloads.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct discovery and assessment of existing mainframe workloads including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IMS, and CICS.
• Define modernization strategies (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Retire, Replace) and develop migration roadmaps with risk mitigation and rollback plans.
• Design target-state architecture for rehosted applications on cloud or distributed platforms.
• Act as subject matter expert for modernization initiatives and provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with cloud teams supporting GCP-based modernization efforts.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in application development using legacy technologies such as COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, IMS, or RPG.
• Hands-on experience with DB2, ETL Processes, and SQL Server.
• Experience with Datacom, MQ, and ASM.
• Proficiency in designing ETL processes for migrating mainframe data.
• Understanding of interfacing systems and ongoing projects.
• Experience defining and implementing modernization and migration strategies.
• Ability to collaborate with cloud teams supporting GCP-based modernization.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with GCP cloud platforms for mainframe rehosting.
• Background in distributed systems architecture.
