Description

You will design and manage performance strategies for large-scale, multi-processor, Parallel Sysplex z/OS environments.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time z/OS system health across CPU, memory, DASD, and WLM managed workloads.
• Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve resource anomalies, workload misbehavior, and production degradation risks.
• Develop performance tuning strategies by adjusting service definitions, dispatching priorities, and workload placement.
• Support capacity planning through workload demand forecasting and resource modeling.
• Migrate performance capacity tooling to Git change management and DevOps deployment pipelines.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of mainframe systems experience with proficiency in z/OS performance management.
• Deep expertise with SMF, RMF data, WLM service definitions, and z/OS workload behavior.
• Proven experience resolving real-time performance issues via adjustments to WLM and batch initiators.
• Proficiency in REXX, Python, JCL, and DB2.
• Experience with RMF, SmartIS, IzPCA, and MICS.
• Strong understanding of PRSM and Batch Processing/Job Scheduling.
• Advanced data analysis skills using MS Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookup, PowerPivot) and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Mathematics, Finance, or a quantitative subject.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with DevOps practices.
• Experience working with ADABAS.
• IBM SCRT Reporting and MICS Product & Reporting experience.
