Description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation Engineer to lead the migration of automation workloads from Broadcom AF/OPERATOR to IBM Z System Automation (SA z/OS). The candidate will be responsible for assessing the existing AF/OPERATOR estate, mapping REXX-based automation rules and scripts to their SA z/OS equivalents, and delivering a phased, low-risk cutover.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform discovery and inventory of current AF/OPERATOR rules, CLISTs, REXX execs, and message-driven automation.
• Design and build the equivalent SA z/OS policy database using the Customization Dialog, including resource definitions, groups, relationships, and startup/shutdown sequences.
• Convert message and event automation into SA z/OS automation policies, NetView CLISTs, and automation tables.
• Plan and execute parallel-run and validation testing across sysplex environments; document rollback procedures.
• Coordinate with system programmers, operations, and application teams; provide knowledge transfer and runbook documentation.

Required Skills

• 8–12 years of hands-on mainframe experience across z/OS
• Strong working knowledge of AF/OPERATOR and IBM Z System Automation (SA z/OS); NetView and Tivoli/OMEGAMON exposure preferred.(Must Have)
• Preferred to have experience in JCL, REXX, and console operations.
• Demonstrated experience delivering tool-to-tool migrations or modernization projects on the platform.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a distributed, remote team
