Description

You will administer and maintain IBM MQ and CICS environments on z/OS, ensuring high availability and performance for critical messaging and transaction processing systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ and CICS TS (v5.x/v6.x), including upgrades, patches, and RSU maintenance.
• Design MQ architecture patterns, define MQ objects (queues, channels, processes), and manage queue sharing and clustering.
• Monitor system health using MQ Explorer, Omegamon, and TEPS; investigate CPU usage via SMF statistics and manage dead letter queues.
• Create and manage CICS resources via RDO, handle dynamic storage areas, and generate transaction/system dumps for problem determination.
• Support z/OS Connect environments and coordinate with IBM/ISV vendors for incident resolution and software downloads.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience in Mainframe CICS and IBM MQ administration.
• Expertise in CICS TS v5.x/v6.x, CICSPlex, MRO environments, and Tivoli/Omegamon.
• Strong knowledge of IBM MQ utilities, queue manager creation/migration, and messaging interfaces.
• Proficiency in z/OS tools: JCL, VSAM, ISPF, and SDS/CAFC.
• Experience with debugging CICS programs using Broadcom Intertest/Symdump and FileAid.
• Understanding of messaging connections to DB2, IMS, and distributed platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
