Description

You will develop, maintain, and optimize mainframe applications and Unix-based automation scripts. You will own the full lifecycle from development and debugging to production support and performance tuning.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
• Write and optimize Unix/Linux Shell Scripts for automation and system integration.
• Create and tune PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve job abends.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and QA teams in Agile ceremonies to deliver scalable solutions.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
• Strong expertise in Unix/Linux Shell Scripting.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL (procedures, functions, triggers, packages) and SQL tuning.
• Experience integrating shell scripts with relational databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL).
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Python or Java for extended automation.
• Familiarity with CICS, IMS, or REXX scripting.
