Role Overview :
As a Mainframe Developer at T D Newton, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing critical business applications running on the mainframe platform. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, architects, and other developers to understand requirements, design solutions, and implement changes that directly impact our clients' core business operations. Your expertise will ensure the stability, performance, and security of these vital systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain COBOL programs to meet business requirements, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Design and implement JCL scripts for batch processing, optimizing performance and resource utilization.
- Develop and support CICS transactions for online applications, ensuring responsiveness and reliability.
- Design and implement VSAM datasets for efficient data storage and retrieval, optimizing data access patterns.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain COBOL programs for complex business applications.
- Must have worked on legacy application
- Preference is from banking \financial services domin
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing JCL scripts for batch processing and system automation.
- Strong experience in developing and supporting CICS transactions for online applications.
- In-depth knowledge of VSAM datasets and their application in mainframe environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
