Mainframe Developer

Key Skills: Mainframe Cobol VSAM JCL DB2, JCL, Application Support, COBOL, ADABAS, CICS, SQL

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide application support for mainframe-based enterprise applications, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and defect fixing.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL programs and batch processing jobs using JCL.
• Work with VSAM datasets and DB2 databases for data access, processing, and maintenance activities.
• Support batch processing operations and monitor production jobs to ensure smooth execution of enterprise systems.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, application failures, and data-related issues within defined SLAs.
• Perform code analysis, debugging, testing, and implementation of application enhancements and fixes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, infrastructure, and business users to support operational stability.
• Assist in application deployments, release activities, and environment support tasks.
• Maintain technical and operational documentation related to application support and development activities.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, compliance requirements, and operational best practices in regulated environments.

Skills Required:

• Strong hands-on experience with Mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and DB2.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications in production and application support environments.
• Good understanding of batch processing, job scheduling, and mainframe operational workflows.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting, debugging, and defect resolution processes.
• Knowledge of CICS, SQL, and ADABAS is an added advantage.
• Understanding of enterprise IT environments within Banking, Insurance, or Healthcare domains.
• Experience working on production support, maintenance, and enhancement activities.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in support-oriented and deadline-driven environments.
