Description

You will modernize legacy IMS applications by building API interfaces and refactoring COBOL/IMS programs for stateless, RESTful integration.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Build API interfaces over existing IMS applications using HATS, Z/OS Connect, and IMS Connect.
• Refactor legacy COBOL/IMS programs into callable modules (LUWs) and create clean request/response COPYBOOKs.
• Assess and redesign conversational flows, managing LTERM state, CSA segments, and IMS Connect user exits.
• Install, configure, and maintain HATS Studio, Z/OS Connect EE, and IMS Connect exit routines.
• Optimize IMS transaction throughput and reduce screen-driven dependencies.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience with Mainframe IMS architecture.
• Strong proficiency in COBOL and IMS database management.
• Hands-on experience with REST API design and implementation.
• Expertise in HATS (Host Application Transformation Services) for green-screen automation.
• Experience with Z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition.
• Understanding of IMS Connect, MFS screen programs, and LTERM continuity.
