Description

You will manage and maintain IMS database systems within a mainframe environment.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Debug and diagnose DBMS system and utility software issues.
• Execute IMS restarts including COLD, WARM, and ERE processes.
• Manage IMS SYSGEN processes, including defining and adding transactions and programs.
• Coordinate and handle annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercise activities.
• Design, code, and maintain DBMS system exits and perform subsystem tuning.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with Mainframe and IMS.
• Expertise in IMS Sysplex and data sharing.
• Deep knowledge of IMS Control Blocks including DBDs, PSBs, and ACBs.
• Proficiency with IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) and RECON datasets.
• Understanding of IMS Logging (OLDS, SLDS, WADS, RLDS) and command codes (Type 1 and Type 2).
• Knowledge of Checkpoint-Restart logic, including Basic and Symbolic checkpointing.
• Experience with access methods such as HDAM, HIDAM, PHDAM, and PHIDAM.
• Familiarity with Fast Path database processing, MSDBs, and DEDBs.
• Technical proficiency in JCL, TSO, SDSF, JES2, SYSVIEW, SMP/E, and IMS Monitoring Tools.
