Description

Manage and maintain IMS and DB2 database environments on z/OS systems.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Manage IMS Database Manager, including DBD source generation and DBRC commands.
• Execute IMS database backup, recovery, and partition maintenance using HALDB schemes.
• Administer DB2 for z/OS, including catalog querying, dependency analysis, and security administration.
• Debug z/OS mainframe batch jobs and assist application development teams with troubleshooting.
• Maintain database availability through utility execution, restarts, and allocation changes.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience in mainframe database administration.
• Expertise in IMS for z/OS, including BMP, DL/I coding, and PSB coding/generation.
• Deep understanding of HALDB partitioning schemes and underlying structures.
• Working knowledge of DB2 for z/OS, DDL constructs, and SQL.
• Proficiency in z/OS, TSO, ISPF, JCL, and SDSF.
• Ability to analyze COBOL and SQL/PL code for database troubleshooting.
• Experience with IMS utility execution and DB2 utility impact analysis.
• Competency in managing datasets and reading JES output for diagnostics.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IMS FORMAT coding and familiarity with DB2 Administration tools.
• Knowledge of RACF and its interaction with IMS and DB2.
