Description

You will lead mainframe modernization initiatives, converting legacy COBOL, JCL, and DB2 systems to cloud-native architectures.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Conduct application assessments to identify modernization opportunities and technical debt.
• Execute code conversion and integration with modern platforms using AI/GenAI tools.
• Collaborate with architects and delivery teams to ensure smooth transition to microservices.
• Prepare technical documentation, estimates, and assist in testing phases.
• Mentor consultants and oversee technical execution of modernization programs.

Required Skills

• 10+ years in mainframe systems and 3+ years in modernization projects.
• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and Assembler.
• Experience with modernization frameworks (Micro Focus, BluAge, Heirloom).
• Executed at least one mainframe modernization assessment and one program.
• Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and cloud integration (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI/GenAI based tooling for code conversion.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
