Description

You will manage all phases of MQ engineering and operations within a large-scale, 24x7 Sysplex environment.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage IBM MQ resources, including channels and queues.
• Execute MQ performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning using trending reports.
• Perform MQ software maintenance, problem determination, and interface with IBM Support.
• Maintain in-house tools such as MQI wrappers, CICS trigger monitors, and channel security exits.
• Support disaster recovery procedures and testing.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in MQ engineering or systems programming.
• Expertise in MQ Data Sharing within large Sysplex environments and High Availability concepts.
• Proficiency with z/OS functions including APF, Link list, LPA, and VSAM.
• Experience with Sysview for MQ and CA-Neuromics Analyzer.
• Ability to develop internal tools using JCL and REXX.
• Familiarity with Java, Kafka, and MQ Confluent Connectors in a mainframe environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to support application developers in batch and CICS environments.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with CICS TS V6.1+, SMP/E, and external security like RACF or CA-Top Secret.
• Prior application programming experience, specifically with COBOL.
