Description

Architect, deploy, and manage mainframe network environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy mainframe networks using VTAM, SNA, TCP/IP, DVIPA/DDVIPA, Sysplex Distributor, and HiperSockets.
• Monitor network performance, latency, and throughput using OMEGAMON, RMF, IBM NetView, Wireshark, and SolarWinds.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and protocol mismatches across the mainframe infrastructure.
• Implement and enforce security protocols including RACF, IP filtering, AT-TLS encryption, IPSEC, and firewall configurations.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support and manage disaster recovery operations, including system backups and failover strategies.

Required Skills

• 15+ years of hands-on mainframe network engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of z/OS mainframe environments, Parallel Sysplex, VTAM, TCP/IP, and SNA.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools: OMEGAMON, RMF, IBM NetView, Wireshark.
• Experience implementing high-availability and disaster recovery strategies on mainframe networks.
• Knowledge of security frameworks: RACF, IP filtering, AT-TLS, VPN, IPSEC, IDS.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (REXX, CLISTs) for automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Skills

• CCNP or CISSP certification.
