Mainframe Operations SME

You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for core mainframe operations.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support core mainframe systems including z/OS, CICS, DB2, IPL, JCL, VSAM, ISPF, TSO, SDSF, IDMS, MQ, GDG, DFHSM, RACF, Spool, and storage management.
• Ensure system stability by proactively monitoring, maintaining, and planning for disaster recovery.
• Act as the SME for Mainframe System Controller Operations support, designing and managing complex job schedules and workflows.
• Troubleshoot job failures, analyze logs, and collaborate with application teams to resolve scheduling conflicts.
• Lead troubleshooting for critical outages and perform root cause analysis (RCA).

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in mainframe operations.
• Proficiency with Z/OS, CICS, DB2, IPL, JCL, VSAM, ISPF, TSO, SDSF, and IDMS.
• Experience managing security protocols using RACF.
• Familiarity with networking components (VTAM, TCP/IP) and storage (DASD, tape).
• Ability to use tools like RMF, SMF, and Mainview to identify bottlenecks.
• Knowledge of compliance requirements including GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
• Experience integrating TWS/OPC with enterprise monitoring tools.
• Ability to provide rotational 24/7 on-call support for Severity-3/4 incidents.
