Description

You will own the performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Analyze mainframe application performance for both batch and online workloads, identifying tuning opportunities.
• Provide specific tuning recommendations to Application Development organizations and guide their implementation.
• Proactively follow up with development teams to track progress on tuning recommendations.
• Create and present performance reports and metrics with recommendations for efficiency solutions.
• Report status on overall tuning initiatives to management and stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of strong experience in Mainframe performance, specifically Application performance tuning and optimization.
• Expertise in programming and performance tuning of Online and Batch applications using Db2, CICS, PL/1, COBOL, MQ, JCL, SYNCSORT, and APA.
• Strong knowledge of SMF record types and sub-types.
• Proficiency with performance management tools including DB2 Explain, RMFMON 3, Strobe, and CICS Performance Analyzer.
• Ability to drive proactive performance management across mainframe systems.
• Experience with dataset and storage management on mainframe.
• Familiarity with capacity planning.
