Mainframe Senior Application Developer with Production Support

You will manage mainframe application development and provide L2/L3 production support.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production support, including incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive solutions.
• Design, code, test, and implement enhancements and bug fixes using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Monitor batch jobs, manage job failures, and ensure data integrity and timely recovery.
• Optimize legacy code to improve system performance and reliability.
• Prepare technical documentation, deployment plans, and operational procedures while supporting change management.
• Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours and weekend support.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and support.
• Expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• Proficiency with TSO/ISPF.
• Solid understanding of both batch and online processing.
• Experience with job scheduling tools such as CA7 or Control-M.
• Proven ability to resolve production issues efficiently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Agile or ITIL-based environments.
• Knowledge of REXX scripting or mainframe modernization tools.
• Exposure to ServiceNow or other incident management platforms.
