Description

Own the mainframe automation strategy, roadmap, and team leadership to improve reliability and reduce operational risk.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Architect and govern multi-site failover automation and DR playbooks using GDPS and Safeguarded Copy.
• Define SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, and alerting standards; reduce MTTA/MTTR through event correlation and automated remediation.
• Lead engineers and SREs, providing coaching on REXX, z/OS automation, and DevOps integration.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for mainframe workloads using Jenkins (Zowe plug-in) and Ansible.
• Manage ServiceNow ITSM workflows and partner with cyber, risk, and compliance teams on governance.

Required Skills

• Expert REXX scripting and deep z/OS operating environment knowledge.
• Proficiency with SQL, JCL, and ISPF/TSO toolchains.
• Experience with DevOps tooling: Jenkins, Ansible, and CI/CD for mainframe.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and systems integration for orchestration.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM automation and AIOps/event-management platforms.
• Demonstrated experience with Git, peer reviews, and change management discipline.

Preferred Skills

• 5+ years of experience leading mainframe automation in large, multi-site enterprises.
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost efficiency.
