Description

Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of mainframe operating systems to ensure reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain mainframe operating systems including z/OS, z/VM, or z/VSE.
• Implement system upgrades, patches, and fixes while adhering to change management processes.
• Monitor system performance and capacity to proactively resolve issues and maintain high availability.
• Perform system tuning and optimization to enhance resource utilization.
• Develop system documentation, including standard operating procedures and disaster recovery plans.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a mainframe systems programmer.
• In-depth knowledge of z/OS, z/VM, or z/VSE.
• Proficiency in COBOL and PL/I.
• Experience with DB2.
• Working knowledge of DFSMS.
• Strong understanding of mainframe hardware, system components, and subsystems.
• Solid understanding of mainframe networking protocols and technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills

• Master's degree in computer science or information technology.
• IBM Certified System Programmer or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert certifications.
• Experience with z/VM Hypervisor, IMS, or IBM OMegamon.
