Description

You will lead the analysis, design, and development of critical mainframe applications while mentoring a team of developers. You define architectural standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices. You partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and present technical designs to senior management. You also coordinate with offshore teams and QA to align priorities and support automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis, design, and development of critical mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, and DB2.
• Manage and mentor a team of mainframe developers, providing direction and fostering skill development.
• Define and enforce architectural standards; participate in and lead design sessions for complex solutions.
• Monitor and optimize application performance; implement tuning strategies.
• Coordinate with offshore development teams and QA to align priorities and deliverables.

Required Skills

• 12–15 years of experience in mainframe development and leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in IBM mainframes and core technologies: COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, and DB2.
• Hands-on development experience required; production-support-only profiles will not be considered.
• Experience with tools such as Xpediter, Abend-AID, File Manager, ADCP, and GitHub.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
