Lead legacy modernization efforts by driving technical assessments, architectural solutions, and automation tool development for complex mainframe environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical assessments of AS-IS legacy systems to develop target state architectures and integration roadmaps.
• Design and build automation tools using scripting languages to support consulting and execution projects.
• Evaluate third-party modernization products and vendors to determine appropriate target replacement solutions.
• Create technical design documents and architecture artifacts while performing deep technical analysis and troubleshooting.
• Manage modernization teams and provide hands-on guidance for complex migration initiatives.

Required Skills

• 13+ years of experience in mainframe environments.
• Expertise in COBOL, IDEAL, and CICS architecture.
• Strong proficiency with CA-Datacom and DB2.
• Experience with scripting languages for tool development, specifically REXX and Python.
• Ability to perform deep technical analysis, troubleshooting, and dump analysis using tools like Xpediter.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and their technical implications for legacy migration.
• Experience in requirement gathering for tool initiatives and framework customization.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with modernization platforms including Microfocus, Heirloom, or TmaxSoft.
• Assembler programming knowledge.
• Cloud platform certifications at a solution architect level.
