Mainframe z/OS Engineer

You will manage the installation, configuration, and migration of z/OS environments to ensure maximum uptime and SLA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform problem determination and root cause analysis for technical issues and document findings.
• Implement changes, upgrades, and maintenance (RSUs) for z/OS and installed software.
• Develop and test backup and restoration strategies to support 24x7 operations.
• Monitor system performance and tune z/OS systems to resolve application workload issues.
• Manage the installation, testing, and customization of new products and ISV software.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in mainframe environments.
• Deep understanding of z/OS services, JES concepts, parallel sysplex/GDPS, and catalog management.
• Proficiency with PARMLIB configuration and JES customization.
• Hands-on experience with JCL, REXX, CLIST, and Modify Assembler EXITS.
• Experience with RACF, IMS, and MQ Series (WebSphere MQ).
• Knowledge of SMP/E and installing/supporting ISV products like CA-View, CA-1, BMC Incontrol, or CA-7.
• Ability to manage USS and perform storage capacity planning.
• Expertise in performance analysis using IBM's RMF, SMF, and subsystem analysis tools.
• Experience installing and maintaining CICS and related products.
• Competency with performance monitoring tools such as SAS, MXG, CA-MICs, Strobe, or OmegaMon.

Preferred Skills

• Experience installing and maintaining IBM and ISV automation products.
