Description

You maintain and support z/OS 3.1 environments on IBM z16 processors, ensuring system reliability and availability across multiple LPARs.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the z/OS 3.1 and JES2 software environment, including installing new releases and applying IBM RSUs via z/OSMF.
• Manage system software access, performance, and resource utilization while resolving system-related problems efficiently.
• Configure hardware using HCD for z16/zNext processors and maintain z/OS PARMLIB libraries.
• Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures, including business recovery testing.
• Collaborate with application programmers and other mainframe groups to ensure production operations run smoothly.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience with mainframe software management specific to z/OS.
• Solid knowledge of mainframe JCL, utilities (IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, IDCAMS), and SMP/E.
• Experience installing and customizing IBM and third-party software using SMP/E and MF utilities.
• Ability to write/read/debug programs in batch and online environments, including writing software exit programs.
• Proficiency in managing z/OS USS (UNIX Systems Services) file systems, mount points, and NFS support.
• Knowledge of CICS TS 6.1, DB2 V13, MQ 9.3, Connect Direct, and CAMIM.
• Understanding of networking (VTAM, TCP/IP), Information Security, and System Automation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with automation tools for packaging z/OS and ISV rollouts.
• Ability to provide 24/7/365 software support, including on-call availability.
