Description

You will administer IBM z/VM and Linux on Z environments, managing the full lifecycle of virtual machines and ensuring system stability, security, and performance.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/VM systems, including VMSES/E, DirMaint, and RACF security integration.
• Manage the lifecycle of Linux on Z workloads (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu), handling patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
• Perform system maintenance including RSUs, PTFs, APARs, and hardware configuration updates via HMC.
• Automate provisioning and operational tasks using REXX, Shell scripting, and Python.
• Provide L2/L3 support for production environments, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, VM failures, and system errors.

Required Skills

• 5+ years experience with IBM z/VM (6.x/7.x) and Linux on IBM Z.
• Hands-on expertise in virtual machine provisioning, scaling, and decommissioning.
• Proficiency in REXX, Shell scripting, and Python for automation.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes and ServiceNow change management.
• Experience with system monitoring and performance analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes on Linux on Z.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana and OMEGAMON.
