Manage and maintain IBM z/VM environments and Linux on Z workloads, ensuring system stability, security, and operational efficiency.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Administer z/VM systems, including provisioning, scaling, and decommissioning virtual machines using DirMaint and VMSES/E.
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux distributions (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu) on IBM Z hardware, managing storage, networking, and system performance.
• Apply system maintenance such as RSUs, PTFs, and APARs, and perform system IPLs and hardware configuration updates via HMC.
• Automate provisioning and operational tasks using REXX, Shell scripting, and Python, supporting CI/CD pipelines and container platforms.
• Implement security controls with RACF, perform OS hardening, and ensure compliance with enterprise standards and audit requirements.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with IBM z/VM (6.x/7.x) and Linux on IBM Z.
• Hands-on expertise in virtual machine lifecycle management and directory administration.
• Proficiency in REXX, Shell scripting, and Python for automation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for z/VM system issues and Linux OS performance.
• Experience with HMC operations, storage (DASD), and z/VM networking.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow for change management.
• Knowledge of RACF integration for z/VM and Linux security.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana and OMEGAMON.
• Knowledge of Sysplex, networking, and storage integration.
• Exposure to cloud integration, hybrid environments, and automation tooling like Ansible.
