Description

You will own the mechanical design for specific components, features, or systems, maintaining end-to-end product development ownership from concept to ship. You will create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for enclosures, internal structures, and components using CAD software. You will iteratively refine prototypes and characterization test systems to validate design concepts and performance goals. You will build and test prototypes to analyze performance, reliability, and durability under various conditions. You will research and evaluate materials and manufacturing processes to develop innovative solutions for next-generation products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for components or systems with full product lifecycle ownership.
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for enclosures, structures, and components.
  • Model, build, and test prototypes to validate design concepts and performance goals.
  • Evaluate materials (plastics, metals, composites) and manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC, die-casting).
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering, industrial design, operations, and firmware teams.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of industry experience in mechanical design.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software: Creo, SolidWorks, or UG NX.
  • Deep understanding of GD&T, DFM, and DFA.
  • Experience with statistical tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Working knowledge of material properties including plastics, metals, adhesives, and glass.
  • Hands-on experience with high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding, casting).
  • Experience with FEA for structural, thermal, or drop testing.
  • Proficiency in Product Design and DFM.

Preferred Skills

  • 10+ years of product design and development experience in handheld or wearable electronics for high-volume manufacturing.
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with NX CAD software, cosmetic surface treatments, and industrial design interfacing.
