Description

You will design, model, and document mechanical systems for robotics and automation hardware, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and usability goals.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage CAD models and 2D fabrication drawings using GD&T (ASME Y14.5), welding symbols, and bend information.
  • Develop 3D sheet metal parts, flat patterns, and complex multi-part assemblies using Onshape or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with product owners to define requirements and ensure designs align with engineering specifications.
  • Manage large assembly files, generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), and handle hardware and sub-assembly integration.
  • Maintain documentation control by updating drawings and assemblies based on engineering change requests (ECRs).

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within Robotics, Automotive, or Automation domains.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Onshape, Creo, or similar CAD software for modeling and drawing creation.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, sheet metal optimization, and welding processes.
  • Experience with prototyping, testing, or hardware builds.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to review designs for errors, ask clarifying questions, and correct issues before finalization.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with assembly documentation, operator manuals, and maintenance guides.
  • Demonstrated interest in safety-critical systems.
